 FABIO QUAGLIARELLA

Fabio Quagliarella is a clear example of the ageless art of goal scoring. As time goes by, he has undergoing such an improvement that he has been called up to play again in the Italy national team aged 36. He is a model for young footballers, especially those who love notching goals. Quagliarella is a terrific goal-getter and he has always netted combining accuracy, acrobatics, shrewdness and strength. He is a striker who has always managed to get an applause from the fans of every team he has played for, a consequence of the professionalism that has marked his career since he debuted in Serie A. Quagliarella is the current Sampdoria captain and leading scorer, and he has also played for Torino, Juventus, Napoli and Udinese.

This is the text Quagliarella will read on the opening day of the 2019 Viareggio Cup before the match between Inter Milan and Braga at Stadio Picco in La Spezia:

"I am cordially greeting all participants, players, directors, coaches, journalists, the fans of football and particularly those of this historical tournament, the cities and people they represent, on behalf of the organising committee, the publich authorities and the citizenry of Viareggio. I am declaring open the 71st Viareggio Cup in the name of the sport we practise with passion and we honour with competition, loyalty and fair play. It must represent a training for upright and noble virtues as well as an ideal bridge for the will of those youngsters who are free and yearning for knowing, understanding and confronting each other. I wish that the victory, as a symbol of sporting gallantry and respect for rules, repays those who will have deserved it onto the football field with solemnity and honour".
