PARTIZAN BELGRADE BACK TO THE VIAREGGIO CUP
Partizan Belgrade are meant to come back to participate in the Viareggio Cup. The renowned Serbian multi-sport club have not entered the world youth football tournament for over a decade, with their last participation dating back to 2006.
As a twist of fate, Partizan are encountering Italian club Sampdoria in the group stage in what will be a replay of the 1951 final. In that year, they became the first foreign club to lift the Viareggio Cup as they won 2-1. Moreover, Partizan were runners-up in 1952 and 1959, losing both matches against AC Milan.
The multi-sport club from the Serbian capitali city has boasted great footballers throughout the years. The likes of brothers Milos and Velibor "Bora" Milutinovic, Olympic gold medallist Fahrudin Jusufi, Ajax legend Velibor Vasovic and Milutin Soskic have played for Partizan in Viareggio.
